It refers to the characteristics of the liquid being transported. It is mainly necessary to understand the working temperature, density (specific gravity), viscosity, whether it is an organic solvent, and whether it is explosive or toxic.
1. Working temperature
The working temperature of the medium has a significant impact on pump selection, directly affecting the cavitation allowance, rubber and seal mechanical seals, and the viscosity and specific gravity of the medium. So when selecting, it is necessary to know the working temperature range of the medium.
2. Density (specific gravity)
The density (specific gravity) has an impact on the Reynolds number of the material, the resistance of the pipeline, the head, and directly affects the power of the pump shaft. The magnitude of shaft power is directly proportional to density (specific gravity)
3. Viscosity
The viscosity (specific gravity) has an impact on the Reynolds number of the material, the resistance of the pipeline, the head, and directly affects the power of the pump shaft. It also relates to the selection of pump structure. Vane pumps are not yet suitable for conveying high viscosity media, and the appropriate pump should be selected based on the viscosity of the medium
4. If the medium is organic solvents or explosive media, explosion-proof motor pumps should be selected for the pump, and rubber seals should be made of medium materials that are resistant to organic solvents (such as FFKM, PTFE, etc.)
